Some of you knew him I’m sure…….l.

In Passing…….

Oral Jones, 76, of Independence, Kentucky left us for better trapping on March 17, 2023. Oral was an active officer and member of trapping and outdoor groups since the late 1970’s.
He was a Lifetime member and co-founder of the United Trappers of Kentucky and a Lifetime member, as well, of the Kentucky Fur Takers and Fur Takers of America. He also held membership and served the Fifth District (League of Kentucky Sportsmen), National Rifle Association, several fishing clubs and much more. He was also a Vietnam Veteran.
Oral was an all-around outdoorsman with his own style of trapping, fur handling, fishing, and hunting. He won numerous Top Lot awards for his fur handling from the Canadian International Auctions. He developed an excellent snare system popular with many Kentucky Trappers, and loved working with young people. For several years, he organized a trapping program for the 4-H youngsters, taking them from trap preparation and scouting to setting, fur handling, tanning, and marketing for the entire trapping season. Several of them, now adults, are making good catches today.
Oral was also a generous contributor and fundraiser for any group he belonged to or supported.
Oral was pre-deceased by his wife, Linda, and leaves 2 sons, Warren and Brian, plus several grandchildren.
At his request, no visitation, services, or memorials will take place.
You are loved and will be missed, Kentucky Trapper!

I'm very sorry to see this. Oral was a true credit to the industry & the organizations he belonged to & supported.
He was very interesting to talk to & he shared his ideas willingly. We first met at the Kentucky Furtakers December auction
about 1984..my very first fur sale. He will be missed by many.

RIP Oral
