Central Cats!!! Nice!!
I'm gonna have to send them to FH...
Wish there was a closer agent here in the South. there was only like 110 central cats so its not a good average to use when you look at all of them

I notice that we have two pages of people making excuses for FHA cats, but STILL no one has answered beaverpeeler's question on how they did at the sale. very poor compared to western auctions average 302

That's at least 3 FH sales in a row that Central Cats have averaged over $100. May be due to low number of those pelts on the sale. I'd still like to get my few in there next spring. Only had 8 this time, but gonna try to grab about 30 to 40 next winter.

Well ya when you can buy top grade mink for 3.50 why wouldn't you. I'd buy them just to wipe my arse if I had the money There is no market for wild mink-they did good to clear them out. There is a market for rats-that is why they held to value.

[quote=Boco]Good sale-great clearances. There is more to a good sale than great clearances. The bigger Association sales did better than FHA across the board.. And the commission goes to the Association that is putting on the sale.

At least they cleared the mink out by actually selling them…not like red fox a couple years ago when they threw the bottom 1/3rd of the trappers fur away.

Didnt have any fur there eh?LOL. I have never shipped to FHA. I used to ship to NAFA. But I never saw a reason to ship to a sale. that was small and depended on craft buyers to make a sale. I had no fur at NAFA when they went under, but it didn't make me think I should ship any to FHA. This sale was a fire sale. $30 section 1 beaver. How many of the 30,000 were section 1? It was nothing to get excited about. People that sold in the country and at trapper sales and shipped did as well else where. I know Canada has little option, unless they sell to some one wanting something to make a pair of mits or a hat.

Beaver average was overall.
April is autism awareness month. Nearly 1 in every 100 children are born with an autism spectrum disorder.. 1 in 100. Stop and think about it...please

Beaver average was overall. The $30 overall average was amazing because that included over 3000 beaver that were small or X small! The little guys even brought $9-$10.
Providing wild fur to the industry at below the cost of production for over 50 years.
Mostly carbon neutral since 1948.

A few years ago these auction houses were smoking the State sales and other buyers on my coyotes and coons b4 them. I’ve not forgotten, and we all need to do what is best for ourselves. But it is remarkable how we forget the past so quickly…. Tight chains all.

On beaver the Section III sold for better averages than did higher grades of the same size. Except for shearable heavies which is a small part of the total. I go back to what I said last June after that sale is if you have a number I beaver best stab it in the back when you're done skinning the darn thing and turn it into a more valuable "gd dmg".
