when I listened you hear the gavel go down on many lots and strings but i still dont get why it shows nothing sold, lot 80011, 80031, 80131,80151 these are just a few examples of my lots.

But lest I sound like a whiner...I'm purty dang happy to see the turn around for beaver prices. An industry hat market report I read a few days ago projects strong growth for the next 5 years for fine western hats. Hopefully they're the 100X's pushing that trend.

I told ya 2 months ago the castor market was gonna do that...

And everyone said oh no..oh no...it wont...and look whats happened now.lol

It's gonna hit 20 -25 a pound before it's over.

It's a great Time to buy castor cause once the surplus of castor dries up tha buyers have now it'll go back to prob 50 or so a.pound

I'm not so sure of that, bet there is a lot more beaver produced next year. And that means a lot more castor produced, and I bet the guys will NOT just toss the little ones away!

I agree with you Al. My bet is good beaver prices will maintain for a couple of years and castor in the tank until once again it flips and castor starts to become scarce. That's how supply and demand works.

I'm not. Just noticing prices quoted here. I believe good blankets sold for around $60 in 2012. The only good Auction since the 80's Just ask Herman if you can find him.

There is no fur market for beaver other than the felt market, so that will favor weight over quality. Last June 2X-3X gd dmg went for $19.50. I'm hearing they doubled that on this auction.

Out of curiosity, how would a MS beaver grade at FHA? I thought about sending the best one I have to the next auction just to see.

How would you get it there?

Closest FHA route to MS is Indiana

Ship it to the FH depot in Wisconsin. Shipping will be more than a Mississippi beaver is worth most likely.

Yes the shipping would be more than it would be worth, and I wouldn’t do it trying to make money. That’s why I asked here so I don’t have to ship smile but when I see an Eastern Select Semi Brn sell at auction, I have nothing to relate that information with. But if I know that the best beaver I have would be “x” then it puts the whole auction into perspective.

I'm not sure that your Mississippi beaver is worth any less than a comparative Wisconsin beaver when it's just weight/size that matters for felters.
