Trapping season may be closed for everything but beaver but things are still happening that have significant potential impact for trappers in North Carolina. A bill was filed yesterday in the NC General Assembly that would make significant change to Fox Hunting and Trapping in much of the state. House Bill 371 (HB 371) would establish a fox hunting and fox trapping season defined by the NCWRC for all counties west of I95 and all counties that I 95 runs through. It would also sunset the local fox regulations in the affected counties. Here is a link where you can follow it as it progresses through and once you open the link you can read the bill by clicking on the highlighted text under Documents: HB 371 -Fox Trapping Central and Western NC

This is good news.. .thought it makes it overly obvious how strong the dog lobby in the east still is.

The whole west of I-95 isn't correct 2 counties (Harnett & Moore) are west of 95. Biggest hiccup there is they both are dog running counties. All counties that are on bill are non dog running counties

I do not see anything as written that changes anything in the counties east of I95.
And as written, some county local laws are retained in some of the affected counties west of I95. I have not looked those up but suggest you do so if you live or trap in one of the counties where local law is slated to remain in place.
