Anyone ever run their raccoon bait through their smoker in order to inject the smoke flavour/scent? I’m going to try it but I’m just wondering how long to leave the stuff in the smoker before pulling it out? Suggestions? After I render Pork Lard,I will put the Cracklings in a cheesecloth Ham Bag and hang in the smokehouse for a few hours.Makes great bait for all predators and also a good trapline snack.

Trapdog1 I’m talking fruit loops, sugar berries & marshmallows. The smoker will be on so why use liquid smoke. Once I’m done cooking I was just going to eliminate the heat & just use the smoke mode but I’m just wondering how long roughly to leave stuff in. I don't think it would take long for stuff like that to absorb the smoke. Let us know how it turns out.

If he’s in bear country that might attract more bears then he wanted to. My buddy up that way uses liquid smoke at his bear baits not that carp won’t attract bears also he might need to find something in the middle to attract coons and less attractive to bears if that’s a issue if not fish or liquid smoke should both work.

Why do all that for a worthless fur. What does it matter if it’s worthless fur or not? If you don’t want to trap them don’t. But I’m interested in finding out about adding smoke flavour to bait using a smoker.

OP......a few years back I did a test with various scent flavors on dry cat food. Just the cheap barn kitty stuff, which the coons that come to my barn each night like very much just as is.
Anyway, test was I made up some short PVC tubes, same size as dog proofs. Tried several flavors mixed with the dry cat food......liquid smoke, smoky sweet bbq sauce, vanilla, anise, fish oil to name a few. Had 5 tubes in a row. Figured if there was a preference, they would seek it out, and ran it under a game camera to watch. Tried it a lot of ways, rotated them to alter position. They liked and polished off all of them, but time and again, they simply went for the first one they came to. There was no preference. The plain dry stuff worked as well as any.
Curious to see if your coon do the same. (Leave a plain un-smoked control side by side so they can choose).
