Do you use 4,6,8,10? Clear, low vis blue, high vis, camo? Just getting back into crappie fishing, so, trying to strart out right. I will be fishing with minnows drifting. Thanks for your help l.

8 lbs tops with 6 or even 4 in clear water. Drifting minnows larger predator fish may be caught so I would go with 6 lbs. I prefer clear but sometimes use bright yellow when I am casting small artificial baits.

I use 4 or 6 lb. If trout are around i use the 6 lb Generally the lighter the line the more strikes you'll get. We use wax worms for bluegill & minnows for crappie
Till that day.....

I think my crappie rod is spooled with 4lb braided. Not sure how they come up with 4lb rating? Because sure seems like I can pull baits off snag without breaking off better than 6 lb mono. I like to use Aberdeen hooks so the straighten out if snagged in wood. Check point bend them back cast back out.

I have used Stren blue 6# test as long as I can remember. Think 4 lb to light and 8 lb is overkill. Do use 8# Stren on my white bass rods. But any good #6. Should be good to go Same here, Stren 6 lb. on my crappie rods, eight on my bass rods and 12 on my bait casters.
Eh...wot?

I like the p-line floroclear in 6 or 8 it is strong was pulling the boat up stream on a snag I have straitend a few hooks that were in snags running the 8 pound.
didn't have any issues catching crappies with it , caught a bunch of other species on it as well
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I run 4 lb on my panfish and trout rods which are 6.6 or 7 ft. Increases catch rates and the long rod lets you handle bigger fish if needed. On my walleye/bass rods usually use 8lb. Designated northern rods have fire line on them I dont remember what weight.
