Easy enough to tell if they were trapped.

Article states they don't know how the raccoons died. How do they know someone killed them and dumped them? Was there a poison in the garbage bags also strewn throughout the area? Did they get into meth?

Talk about jumping to conclusions.

When they aren't worth skinning I can see stuff like that happen.

We have a joker here that pulls that from a local poacher family likes to cut the tails off then drops them on a busy road right next to it. I’ve picked up 2 loads so far. If you look at a map his house in smack dab in the middle of the roads he’s dumping them on not a bright kid to begin with.

I’ll bet one of 2 things . Some one fly baited them or an animal control company threw them out. Hunting clubs do it all the time . They don’t want coonsat their corn feeders so they mix fly bait in koolaid and place it under their feeder. I think some one had a thread on here about that . Or maybe they got ahold of some poison at that dump site ? Pest control companies can’t process animal they catch here in Ky they have to despose of the carcasses. Doesn’t say bury them

They were removed from someplace very likely to be dumped in that number nobody would collect random critters to just dump them in one place people are lazy often.

Why would you make a coon your state animal?

Someone got the desired result ... Bridge area cleaned up! And put a dent in the scavenger population.

Fly bait was my first thought also.

Somebody made a stop on the way home from the rat wagon.

We've found a couple coon hunters dump sites here and got alot of coon out of the.piles and skinned them..

Thw most we got.out of a pile that were good was 14

Near Becklet we found a place where we got coons 2 years in a row that had been hunted by dogs, shot and dumped

IF IDIOTS GREW ON TREES THIS PLACE WOULD BE AN ORCHARD !

I will jump to one. That has all the earmarks of meth heads, I’d be willing to bet money on it. They trash the outdoors around here and nothing happens to them.

I posted something about farmers using fly bait years ago on the KY trappers site and those guys sort of went off the rails for some reason.

Face the facts, No fur market and these critters switch to trash. If they were $30 they wouldn’t be laying there long.

That sure was a graphic image though. Lord have mercy.

Just sold some coons here in Missouri to a fur buyer and only got $1.50 per coon. I'm a huge advocate for not wasting a critter but also understand that $1.50 a coon isn't worth wasting your time skinning and selling. Just my opinion.

I know. They still need managed but if you aren’t getting any money for the work involved with the pelts, and you don’t want any tanned for your own collection…what do you do with them?
But THIS is ridiculous. And bad public image if it was a trapper. But i can’t imagine it would be
