Hello all,
I am hoping to get help dating and finding more information about the Oneida Victor #1 trap that I am restoring. I'm hoping to get information on what it is made of (cast or pressed steel) and hopefully finding out how to date it properly. Any information would be helpful! thanks

Hello, Your trap is a Victor, made by Animal Trap Company of America in Lititz, PA. It is a very common trap and was made from 1925 into the 1990s. There are no cast parts, all parts are cut from flat steel. The chain has been added on to, the first section off of the swivel is original, as is the ring on the end. But, the longer links have been added.

I see nothing special or valuable in that trap. It is a very common item in any part of Canada.
