I called Savage but after being on old for ten minutes I hung up. Called a savage repair place in Sd and she said they only sell parts. Now she said if it was built in Canada I could not send it back. I could not find the box so will see what it says on the gun when I get it back from a gun repair place. Thank You all!

Guess I was right then. Glad you got it fixed. They are typically extremely accurate.

I have the bolt Savage in .17hmr. A piece of crap with the flimsy clip. It will jam a round 2 out of three times.

I purchased the A17. A very nice rifle. No problems.

yes that is their weakness that little magazine of sheet metal origami buy spares and sometimes you have to adjust the bottom metal , ever magazine fed firearm shares the weakness some just have better magazines and better alignment.

I have a marlin that you need to leave the bottom metal screws loose and insert the magazine then tighten or it will not feed right.

there is a reason some firearm's instructors will hammer your magazine flat when they identify a bad one

A gun is a fairly simple, albeit precisely machined, mechanical device. It shouldn't be that hard for a competent gunsmith to figure it out. Send it back to savage or find a better gunsmith.

D- for your skills of observation. Would be an F but it looks like you at least skimmed over the first thread and didn't reply to the title only.

I read the whole thread before I commented. I saw that he sent it back to savage and got it repaired. My comment was in response to the OP, where the repair shop (resumably someone who fancies themselves to be a gunsmith) told them the gun couldn't be fixed and to just throw it away.

Perhaps you'd have felt better if Id said "Next time send it out to savage right away or find a better gunsmith.
