I was brought up catholic, but I didn’t really pay attention to much,,, it wasn’t until I attended a Pentecostal church service with my wife is when things changed,,, I began to actually read the Bible and start to understand better,,,, I didn’t even know what the rapture was.. I guess I kinda cooled off from that time,,, circumstances in my life has opened up my eyes again. Just curious about other folks journeys

Raised Catholic. Got away from the church for a few reasons. The older I get and the more I see and go through in life, the less I believe there’s a God who loves mankind.

No, none of us are born a Christian. Even though I was raised by Christian parents in a Christian church from nine months before I was even aware of it and then every time the doors were open. It was one long hot summer after a week of evenings listening to Brother Junior Hill preach revival that it all fell into place and I truly understood that no amount of Church matters, who my parents were mattered not that I was all alone in this universe and nothing about me had any worth or value yet the Son of God Jesus Christ had given His all, His lifeblood just for me and only He could make my life of any use. So down the aisle I went that Sunday night and kneeled with Brother James Franklin leading me in prayer just talking to God and surrendering to the Lordship of Jesus.
I'd love to say it's all been a bed of roses and happily ever after or that Chist has perfected his love in me but hey y'all know me. I've told some whoppers but I would never say life as a follower of Christ is easy. At least not as long as I have anything to do with. I've done some truly horrible things. There was a time I truly understood just what my Lord meant when he told of a young man in a pig sty and the husks the pigs had left. That was the Jefferson County Jail for me facing a possible life without.
Three months later and fifteen minutes of deliberation by a jury returned a not guilty and the Lord led me out of that pig say.
Again it hasn't been smooth sailing as I'm prone to kick against the goad and I keep doing dumb stuff but my Savior lives and loves me and I love Him.
I wish all of you could know Him as I do.

No. But, became a believer at a fairly young age. Don't always act like a Christian though, thankfully God is gracious, merciful, and patient towards me.

I forgot about that song! Added to my playlist that I sometimes play on the trapping buggie. Warrior is correct. Nobody is born into being a follower of Christ. And all who follow now have a story as individual and unique as they are. For some, and I'm in that camp, it took quite a long while because I'm the achiever guy supreme, the get outta my way dude, and the leave me alone please and thank you fella. But God's Word says, and I know that He is, compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness and truth. I'm very limited in all these character attributes most days. Well, every day.
God held on to me - through my love of creation - long before I ever held on to Him. Millions of followers and every story of how they came to believe would all be different for them but have one source from where it emanated from....... God. Praise God He loves those he created and sent His only Son to die for those who hate Him... which is everyone... prior to such time as we're all typing about.
Blessings, Mark

I agree with 330s statement born and sinner, still a sinner.
I didn't become a Christian until 2014 when I was 29. I believed that God was real and Jesus was his Son, but I was a false convert. I trusted in my ability to be or stay saved by being a good person and repenting of sin. When I was good I thought I'd go to heaven, and when I wasn't I would hide from the fact that I thought I would go to H3||
It wasn't until April 27th 2014 that I heard the gospel preached properly. I then understood that I had grown up under a flase gospel with a false idea of Jesus. I thought even though Jesus died for me that I had to contribute and be upright to be saved. One I realized that was flase and I could never repent of enough sin, or be sorry for my sins enough to be saved the truths in the Bible clicked and I believed on Jesus and he saved me. Then I was indwelled with the Holy Spirit and made a new creature. I'm still a sinner and that will never change, I deserve to go to H3|| for any one of my sins, but no matter what I never will because Jesus's perfect finished works is what saved me and there's nothing I could ever add to or take away from that.
Eternal is everlasting, and believing the gospel is the only way to achieve it. If I could lose it then it wouldn't be eternal, and if I could add to it then the gospel is a lie.
1 John 5:9-13 KJV If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. [10] He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. [11] And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. [12] He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. [13] These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

I knew a guy who introduced me to the Bible in the 90s. I also grew up in a Catholic home but I soon turned my back on them. I started going to Pentacosal Churches there they teach the Bible they don't teach it in Catholic Churches just take your money 2 times a service.!
