Here's where we stand. I had hoped to be way further along but the weather has been tough. On nice days I work so I haven't had a ton of time to work on it. I did sheath the roof with plywood, we will put ice and water on it when it gets warm enough to apply, for now it's temporary tar paper which will be removed. Perlins will go on sheathing and tin on that. What do you guys think so far?

Looks good!
I’d run a couple 6” or better screws up thru the wall top plates and into that cross header you have there. If those walls can never spread the peak of course will not sag down. You may have already done it and it doesn’t show.

Im no carpenter but I would put another cross tie or 2 and would nail them directly to the rafter, also I dont understand putting purlins over the sheeting.

Thank you, I will do that, I have it screwed in pretty good but a dollar worth of long screws is cheap insurance.

I was going to put two more crossties in, right at each end, I'm hoping that's enough?

Putting Purlins on then tin on those to hopefully keep the moisture out due to the temperature differential. I was afraid if we put the tin directly on the sheathing it would cause the sheathing to rot due to the temperature differential creating condensation.

Your end walls act as ties, I would split the difference. a third of the way and two-thirds. nail directly to rafter and top plate. Maybe even double them if you are going to hang stuff from them. You will trap air in perlins nailed horizontal with no way to ventilate. Maybe TP then 1 or so styrofoam and steel right on top. screws that stick through would show frost though. Just spitballin.

Id put a couple more 2x's from side to side and throw a piece or two of your left over plywood up there... Keeps the sides from spreading and gives you a ton more storage.

Looks very good from here....

I'm doing my best to not store stuff in here. I have a shipping container for storage and just need a work shop. The only reason I don't want more 2x is because it will obstruct the tv I think.

If you’re going to put snow and ice shield on it put your tin on the roof deck, screw it in the flats.

Cutting your rafter tails is easier before you put your roof sheathing on but then that's not nessasary if your not putting on any facia and soffit.

On my side of the country, wind is the problem. Tie everything together very well to prevent your roof from lifting.

X2 on the advise against horizontal purlins and tin. If you must use horizontal purlins, Ice and gutter guard the entire roof and a ridge vent at a minimum will help. The ridge vent will allow some airflow thru the ribs of the tin and the ice and gutter guard will prevent water from soaking into the OSB. Metal is an excellent conductor of heat/cold which leads to condensation and can cause water to show up in unexpected places.

Do you plan on insulating this building?

Looks like a window framed in the back . Don’t know where your at or the neighborhood but a window in the back is a doggy door for a thief. You still have to put lights in it forget the window !!

I find it easier to run the bird blocks before the sheeting , but you can still do it

I planned on doing ice and gutter on the entire roof. I do plan on insulating the building. I thought this is what people told me to do but I may have misunderstood.

I'm not worried about a their going through the window, I'm very rural and that is where the window ac unit will go and the winter coyote bait pile will be 100 yards behind that window.

If your putting an ac unit in it forget the window save your money. Just get the unit cut the hole for it . What I did on both sides of mine. One less expense . But your building your money .

Got the window for free and I need it to shoot coyotes off my bait pile. Wife was angry last time a .22 mag was fires from the house and terrified the baby.
