Any one here have a bone marrow biopsy? Where they go in your bone with a needle to extract marrow? If so, where do they usually go in at and does it hurt? Had some tests results come back that are a little scary,,, so I don’t know what to expect next.

They went in thru my hip.

The procedure itself doesn't really hurt. The numbing shot stung a bit. It is a weird feeling as they're drilling and then extracting. I walked out about a half hour after they did it and drove home.

It did smart for a day or 2 after the numbing stuff wore off.

I had no restrictions.

In the hip usually targeting the head of the thigh bone, ircc. According to those I've spoken to there is a bit of pain following but it's doesn't seem to be to long for full recovery.

If you feel pain while they are "drilling" tell them. That means they missed the section that they numbed. Believe me, you'll know when they miss. You won't if they hit the sweet spot.

Went into my hip. It’s the easiest entry point to extract a core marrow sample.
It’s how they were able to determine the type of leukemia I have and how to treat it. Blood cells are created in the marrow…so they had to go to the source to see what was going on.
Good luck and you are welcome to PM me.
Jim

If you can be put out for it, please do.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.
