Don’t put them off because if detected in Stage 1, it can be removed. No chemo and no radiation because at stage one it is all contained. Colon cancer grows pretty fast once a polyp turns cancerous.

Colorectal cancer is the number 2 leading cause of cancer deaths in America and Canada. Close to 53,000 American will die from colorectal cancer this year. Around 1 in 23 men and 1 in 26 women will get colorectal cancer. All of us should get checked.

Colorectal cancer is a very hard way to die!

FWIW, I got a clean bill of health this morning. Doc said come back in ten years, if I wanted to. In ten years I will be 80, and he said unless something turned up in the meantime, I could just skip it. smile

Get er done, fellas, it got away from my mother-in-law, and it wasn't pretty. frown

I agree with you. At my age, I'll let it kill me too if I get it.
A lady I know had it and ended up with a bag. I'd rather be dead than carry that around with me.

Must be nice to eat ice cream as fast as you want and not have to worry about brain freeze.

I've never had one. I'm 61... no family history. I've always done the biometric ColoGuard thing. Insurance covers it 100%. Doc says ok...good to go. IDK...maybe I should just to be sure.

The pills are 24 tablets. Twelve at 6:00 Pm and 12 at 3:00AM. I always opt for the fluid. Had the procedure last week-end. Fourth time around for me. I don't mind the prep. Kind of fun actually.

We all have choices when it comes to our health and how we proceed in life. I wouldn't deny any man that, and I don't know your age or how you do things things.
I don't know what issue the lady you know that had the cancer ended up with bag. Do know everyone gets different deal with cancer. Is same with bag different for everyone.
I had lots of decisions to make when I had colon cancer. Was a point in my treatment where choice was do nothing live with it. Do surgery probably end up in diapers. Do surgery and forever have the bag.
I chose the dreaded bag figure wasn't end of the world but I would survive. Not sitting in poopie pants.
Like I said everyone gets a different deal in life you make of it what you can.

I want you to look at the pictures I've posted. See if you can spot my bag hanging out in any of them. I'm coming up on 9 years with it.

Can I say having a bag has been an issue at times??? Yes
Did it change my life? Yes it did
Is it the disability I thought it would be? Nope.
Cancer can be a death sentence, having a bag is an inconvenience and sometimes even be handy.

I am going to go in the 15 of Febr for my second colonoscopy... had one 7 years ago and they told me to come back in 7 so here it is. I will be 66 in May and my grandpa had colon cancer and mom had polyps removed. I had a co-worker who did a routine one a few years ago and they found full blown cancer... stage 3... I think. He had 16" of the colon removed and they thought they got it all. But a cell or two must of got past the surgery and moved in his liver. They think they got it all now. That first colonoscopy he got at the age of around 50 probably saved his life. Don't put the colonoscopy off. As a famous Nebraskan likes to say....." GET ER DONE" smile
