ringtail OP trapper R Joined: Apr 2007 Posts: 137 western iowa	What gauge 1x1 welded wire is used on cage traps? I'm wanting to make a few for Bob cats for next year. Our Iowa raccoons can be awful hard on the cage wire . Thanks for any information

Law Dog trapper Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 34,928 Central, SD	Get real cage wire Klubertanz in WI has the best around that I know of the 14ga 1X1 is ok the 12 ga 1X2 is best but expensive now shipping is a killer. The cheaper stuff in other outlets is often made in China and the welds don’t hold even when just building a trap with that junk. Buy a full roll then a short roll to cover the front and back of the traps it saves a lot of waste that way. Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that! Jerry Herbst

Most still GTG, way heavier than others. Was expensive back then, relative to others, can't imagine it now
