Do you float users preset your floats out ahead of season? If so how long before?
I am trying to figure out how to make floats work especially for changing water levels which in central ohio happens every time i think about setting any real line out.

I've never thought about setting mine out before season.

Never done it but I have been thinking of ways to preset the traps without them going off in the back of the truck. Does anyone know of a way that's somewhat reasonable in price? Not meaning to steal this post from the OP, just curious.

I could see theft being a sizeable risk of putting them out before season.

if water way is publicly owned and in WI you can not pre-set and pre staking is discouraged

it is illegal to Place any set or sprung trap, snare or cable restraint for furbearing animals during
the closed season

it would seem you could place the float possibly but traps would have to be removed from it as it includes sprung traps

in michigan you can put out floats, ahead of season but you can not have a trap attach
