That was the only trapping book in my small town Port Austin library and my parents probably could of bought me a dozen copies with all the late fees I had on it. Read every page 50 times and sold many a copy back in my distributor days. Fantastic!!

I would bet the book has sold more copies than any other trapping book, probably by far. Many are not aware this was not his first book. Hawbaker's first book was titled "Trapping and Trailing". That book was published in 1938 and there were only 500 copies printed. I don't know how many editions of "Trapping North American Furbearers" have been printed, but there have been many. I am thinking I saw a copy that was an 18th edition, but I do not know if I remember correctly.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Widow maker and Wiley red half gal of fox pee . Dozen north woods 1 3/4 all a kid needed in the late 70’s early 80 Bagged up saw dust from local sawmill in august so it would be dry all winter . Caught and shot 50 plus total 3 years in a row. At 35-50 bucks a peice that was a lot of money for a 13-15 year old. No yotes back then A buddy of mine swore by Widow maker . I carried a bottle of HB apple in my pocket my first couple of years trapping. I can't tell you how many times I'd just open that lure bottle to take a woof. Unfortunately my copy of the book was stolen along with a U Haul in Texas
