There was some scuttlebutt a while back that Hodgdon had discontinued the Enduron line of powders. I read/heard somewhere that there was a fire at the plant that produced that line... And the wait time to get it back running and putting powder back on the market was lengthy... So supposedly they dropped that line of powders.

This was in the comments section of a statement released by Hodgdon on their Facebook page where they gave an update and forecast for 2023.

[Linked Image]

Nothing is guaranteed. But it looks like Enduron powders may be available at some point... May be a while but they claim they have not discontinued the line.

Good to know Mike, thanks!

I just wish they still made H450, my 300WTHBY loved that powder!!!! I'm down to about a pound and a half of it so if I just use it for hunting I'll not run out.

I am on the lookout for a powder that will work in 223, 308 and 30-06 as I have not seen any varget for a couple of years with as always a good all around one to have on the shelf.

Scuba, IMR 4895. Used to be a military powder. H4895 is good too. Very similar burn rate

Yup thats a good all around one as well. Like reloader 15 and BCL2 and some others. If I find some I'll buy a jug or two of the stuff. then I have to start over with developing a load for each of the above calibers ... ain't life a beach ? wink

my 223 , 308, 30-30, 30-06 powder is H4895

had it originally for the M1 and it just worked for the rest

the most available powder I see is CFE223 which can do those I just don't know how well

I use H4895 for my 30-06. Want to start rolling my own for my .38/.357. Not sure what to use there.

GCP, CFE223 is the powder of choice in my 223 (52 grain Berger) and 6.5 Grendel (120 grain Sierra). The stuff really does take copper fouling out of the picture. Now if we could come up with something to take care of the carbon I'ld be really happy. At present I'm trying to make a go of it in my 308's, it's just ok with 150 grain Sierra. Can't compete with my Varget load (150 grain Sierra) in either gun. Might get better with 165s.

In my 30-06, 150 grain I use IMR 4064, 168 grain I use IMR 4350, I’ve heard good about the enduros powders, but never tried any!

all depends what your going for , pleasant target loads or high velocity hunting rounds

CFE pistol would be worth a look form most mid velocity range stuff in 38 and 357

I use Aliant power pistol in most of my pistol loads 9mm,38spl,40S&W,44mag and 45acp it is an all around good mid power powder for that range
a little Smokey and not as easy as it used to be to find and I sure miss the days of 16 dollars a pound , now if you do find it it is 40-42 a pound

I picked of two each 8 lb WC 844 and WC 846. They cost under $150 for 16 pounds, shipped including shipping and Haz mat. I saw this coming a while ago. I saw some at a gun show a year ago sell for $200 per 8 pound. Powder is not as high as it was for a while, but some is still hard to find.
Mid way shows Varget in stock $48.45 a pound

Bought some small rifle and large pistol primers also, $8 per hundred.

Don't have much trouble locating Varget around here... Paying for it is the hard part. $50 to $60 a pound is the going rate.

I had pretty good luck with IMR 4451 in .300 Win Mag pushing 195 gr match bullets. I didn't have a chronograph at the time so I don't know about the velocities... But the 5 shot groups were pretty good for a knucklehead like me.

It's getting better. For now.

What weight bullets were you pushing with H450?

Guess I don't feel so bad about the Varget price. No hazmat fee or shipping.
I do not reload for shotgun anymore but the price of lead shot is nuts.
$50 - $60 per 25LBS.

I never got anything out of CFE-223 except velocity... Until I put it behind a 168 SMK in my AR-10. I got some tiny groups but it's so temp sensitive that I doubt those will hold up in warmer/cooler weather.

There are 2 new powders in the Winchester Sta-Ball line, just released... Sta-Ball Match and Sta-Ball HD. They are ball powders and are supposed to give good velocity and easy metering but are supposedly temp stable like Varget, H4350, and H1000.

Sta-Ball HD is supposed to be good for magnum rifles... 200+ gr bullets in .300 Win Mag so similar to Retumbo. Not sure what Sta-Ball Match is all about... Haven't seen the load data for it yet. But I think it's for .223, .308, and the like.

That's about the going rate for lead shot here. I don't reload for shotgun either but I do keep a bag or two on hand for my smoothbore flintlock... The Varget price is due to just a handful of local retailers who have been in business long enough, and have enough stroke, to get powder delivered regularly... And they're taking advantage of it. As it becomes more available and competition kicks in it should hopefully drop in price.

Varget been available for a couple weeks now.........and looks like the price has dropped.

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1009281345?pid=963843

BTW, if you are on the hunt for other powders, take a look around. Midway has been showing some stuff that has not been available for a long time.

And if in Mid MO area, drop by Graf's retail store in Mexico. They have tons of powders in the retail store that do not show on their website.

I am going to stay H4895 as long as I can I have some more yet and have seen it some times , it is very temp stable.

they had LPP when I checked last night locally nothing else

not sure I am ever going to buy another SPP unless it is all that is available.
I have used about 500 SRP now on 9mm loads if they are the same price I see no point stocking both I can tell no difference in the end product and no difference in price.
my guns have no problem with the thicker cup and they become one primer 2 uses.
