Unless you REALLY know what you’re doing, stock trading on apps like Robinhood is at best gambling. If you’re looking to make investments find a reputable investment professional and don’t mess around with single stocks.

Forget the apps, get a company that you can buy stock as fast as you can type.

You want a reputable investment professional in that company also.
I have TD Ameritrade which has been bought by Schwab. The TD broker I had retired and
I buy and sell myself through the account almost all of the time. Buy and hold seems to be the best strategy in most cases,
But not all.

Good luck

Agree with Bob and remember your young and stay in for the long haul and do not try to day trade a 401k I've seen to many idiots where I work lose their rear doing this .

I also agree with Bob.

Go to your local bank and talk to the investor. Every branch has one and some are really good and know what they are doing.

You do not need a professional advisor to tell you what to do and charge you for it.

I DO agree that you should ignore apps and just open a brokerage account at a reputable outfit like TDAmeritade, Schwab, Etrade etc.

You can get most questions answered on sites such as Investopedia and others.

Stay away from low dollar stocks and penny stocks. Buy shares of high quality companies and plan to hold your position for the long term......especially at your age.

Make your own decisions. Maybe subscribe to a financial publication like Barron's.

READ.

Ignore people making videos telling you how to get rich. If they knew how they wouldn't be making videos trying to sell you something like a subscription to their channel or something from their online store.

Use your local library.

Listen to white17. He helped me get started and the only times I've lost money was when I went against the above advice.

I'd highly recommend taking a moment to read The Simple Path to Wealth by JL Collins. I've followed his guidance for several years and whole heartedly agree with his book's principles. I would consider thinking of your future investment strategy less as "stock trading" and more as buying and holding quality companies for the very long run.

As Warren Buffet once said, “The stock market is a device for transferring money from the impatient to the patient.”

I wouldn't hire a management company. Use a reputable brokerage such as vangaurd or fidelity and pick a few mutual funds that hold broad sectors of the market or the entire market. I reccomend researching the index fund VTSAX. The overwhelming majority of my portfolio is there.

Be sure to take advantage of a Roth IRA for the first $6500 a year you invest. Simple reason being future growth is not taxable when being held in a Roth IRA. The majority of your portfolio will be growth when you are finished. Keep in mind you can not withdraw IRA growth prior to age 59 1/2 without penalty or a few special occasions that your tax person can walk you through. You're better off the keep in there for the long haul anyways.

I agree with white except for the fact I would not get Barrons it’s a waste of money. There’s enough information on the internet and if your considering a stock, I or We would give you advice

X4 White. Listen. to White, Wolfie. Barron’s is a great to use. Free internet investing advice is exactly that. You get what you pay for. Most of the free stock advice on the internet is basically IMO paid advertising. At your age is a great time to start. Don’t worry about how much you invest. The key is to get started. White17 steered me in the correct direction as well. TD Ameritrade is a great brokerage firm. Lots of tutorials videos. And they are available to answer ?’s

Thanks everyone, especially white17 and T36. I'm not trying to do a ton and definitely not trying to fall into the whole day trading instant millionaire thing so many my are are doing. I just want my money to be doing something productive now so I can have something half decent when I get a bit older. I'll definitely be looking into all of your suggestions, thank you all very much smile
