I had a similar problem with my 17 rem, found out I didn’t have the seating die set right. If it’s a new die to you then that’s most likely your problem.

so thinking here I don't have an arbor press and really don't want to buy one but I'm very interested in the inline seating die from wilson.I see where RCBS makes a Arbor conversion kit for their summit press, this wont work on my press. I thinking making something like this .

I think I could weld up an extra lee .223 shell holder for the base and weld a lee powder drop funnel for the top to seat the wilson die. I'm still calling Vickermans but haven't been able to get thru yet.

Easiest way is the Vickerman, if you start loading other 17 cal, just need the base for that caliber. I switch back and fort between 17 Rem and 17 Hornet. Since the settings are written down for the bullet dept so it's not a problem going back and forth. Dropping that small bullet in the side of the die does speed things up that small of caliber.

You don't have to have a reloading arbor press.

Harbor freight ebay Amazon can all get you one pretty quick.
