Very nice Mr. June ; what kind of market do you have for the south Texas kitties they can't have much fur or is it the wide spotted bellies just asking because I have never trapped southern U.S. .. Jon

Jon, Further south you go, the worst the coyotes get fur wise, but the better the bobcats get. My goal is north of 100 bobcats this year with a total fur price target of $15-$20 grand. I'm ahead of that pace so far.

I've averaged anywhere from $72 to $138 per cat in this region of our nation the last 15 years or so since the cat markets picked up. Since I charge a daily rate for my predator control expertise, the fur money is simply gravy.

My last contract in the panhandle region.... I charged the owners who wanted to mount all 5 cats I caught..... $175 each for the two females, $400 each for the two males, and $800 for the 41 pound Tom.
I sell the skulls and paws also.

I've developed a nice network of buyers over the many years and piece by piece I earn a nice living doing what we love doing.

Thanks Nittany Lion. Not too shabby for a one day check is right! I know a fella in the western US who's caught 9 in one check but that was a multi day check situation.

The bunny population is WAY HIGH this year and that always means healthy cats and more of 'em.

That’s awesome. I worked on the border for two months last year and was amazed by the diversity and abundance of wildlife. We were working out of Del Rio and covered an area from Alpine to Laredo. I saw at least one live bobcat a week driving between Del Rio and Laredo. Going towards Alpine it was mostly jackrabbits, mule deer, elk, and javelina.
