I have a opossum that is fleshed and stretched. I caught it later in the year but I noticed I can see the hair follicles on the hide Sid rod the pelt? Why would this be? And can I still send this to to tannery? Will it turn out well? Sorry for all the questions, I just don’t want to send something away that will get ruined. Thanks for any help

Is it your first or a special one? It might be worth catching another if you’re worried about it. They’re tough to flesh without getting into the hair follicles

It typically happens when the pelt is under prime so to speak. Coon can have that look as well.

It will tan fine. An alternative is to buy a home tan solution and try do it yourself

It will tan fine. I have found it almost impossible to flesh grinners without it showing some hair follicles. I have tanned ten or so and they all turned out great.

If you decide to try tanning yourself rittles ez-100 is a really good product.
