My mechanic told me recently, about the EVs, that if you get a replacement part that saves you money, that isnt the part the Chinese or other manufacturers want you to get, they have those cars programmed and will shut the driver down from being able to start them.

My mechanic has his finger on the pulse of all kinds of info about anything vechiles , I wasn't surprised to hear that, either. Makes me wonder what other types of GPS and programming they have inserted in the Vechiles that are transported here.

If you have a GM vehicle with On Star, your vehicle can already be tracked and shut down remotely.

Good thing I've been brushing up on carburator tuning.

You may own the car , but you License the software that runs every aspect of it.

somewhere you likely signed an end user agreement on the software and if you didn't say you bough the car second hand through private sale then you may own the car but not be licensed to use the software thus you own a bunch of metal , plastic and hazardous waste and that is all.

wouldn't it be easy to remove the kill switch ?

calling it a kill switch simplifies it like your just shorting the coil to ground.

remember these are entirely computer controlled cars if the computer stops the injectors from pulsing your done ,you have to bring up a screen to raise or lower the blower speed there is not other control for it.

so if the software locks you out you change nothing
