Raptortrapper OP trapper Joined: Dec 2016 Posts: 843 Colorado	If I wanted to remove rust off of some old traps, is there a better method than bead blasting? Why do I carry 10mm? Because shooting twice is just silly.

20scout trapper Joined: Nov 2017 Posts: 5,559 West Central MN	Vinegar or acid works but just make sure to neutralize it or it'll continue to eat away at your traps. Sand in a cement mixer works good. Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

GREENCOUNTYPETE trapper G Joined: Sep 2013 Posts: 18,821 Green County Wisconsin	bead blast evapo-rust acid electrolysis tumbling with sand wire wheel lots of ways to do it , time , what you have , and your end goal some things run the risk of damage , some take longer wire wheel the jaws so there is not sharp or flakes of rust so that they close well , fire smooth and boil them to turn the red rust black then die and wax people do things like electrolysis when they want no possible damage and have all the time America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

But if I can do it in a day or two, on a couple dozen traps, I'll just do it here. Mixer with sand is looking like a promising idea. Just gotta find a mixer to rent. Why do I carry 10mm?
