If I wanted to remove rust off of some old traps, is there a better method than bead blasting?

Why do I carry 10mm? Because shooting twice is just silly.

I use muriatic acid, eats the rust in just a few minutes

If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

Vinegar or acid works but just make sure to neutralize it or it'll continue to eat away at your traps.
Sand in a cement mixer works good.

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

Overnight soak in 50:50 white vinegar and water. Then just rinse it off.

bead blast

evapo-rust

acid

electrolysis

tumbling with sand

wire wheel

lots of ways to do it , time , what you have , and your end goal

some things run the risk of damage , some take longer

wire wheel the jaws so there is not sharp or flakes of rust so that they close well , fire smooth and boil them to turn the red rust black then die and wax

people do things like electrolysis when they want no possible damage and have all the time

I have access to bead blasting. Just have to ship them to my buddy in California. But if I can do it in a day or two, on a couple dozen traps, I'll just do it here. Mixer with sand is looking like a promising idea. Just gotta find a mixer to rent.

what is the goal ? a cheap die grinder and cup wire brush will get the stuff you need off and then boil and die.

could cost less than shipping or rentals

if you have air

https://www.harborfreight.com/2-inch-wire-cup-brush-42858.html

if not

https://www.harborfreight.com/5-amp...der-58092.html?_br_psugg_q=angle+grinder

as long as it isn't flaking off rust and the man moves right , dog is good , levers operat smooth you don't need to go crazy trying to get to bare metal , many people intentionally get a little surface rust on traps because they think they need to to make them boil and dye right.

blued guns are basically pre-rusted under controlled conditions , boiled and buffed repeat

people who used muriatic acid can probably buy it cheap at the end of pool season and it is fast
