Anyone use any kind of attractor at the set for bobcats besides feathers? I was reading a book about how bobcats like to kill their own prey and that the best way the author could figure to create that scenario was with an eyeball. Here’s what I made today to use at some sets. Eye wedged into an 8” nylon landscape spike. Going to be difficult to get all the way into the ground in some places I trap, but think it could be a pretty decent attractor to keep a cats attention a little longer

I’ve known guys around here to use a blank CD with a hold drilled in it and a fishing swivel through the hole, tied up in a juniper or big sagebrush above the set. We can’t use fur or feathers

We can't use fur in Pennsylvania.
I've tried & experimented with alot of material for flagging. Rain & snow beats most up here.

Best I found is Ag Bag material. FREE at your local dairy farm.
Durable, Black/White contrast stands out, Lightweight, Waterproof! Keeps working in rain or snow.

Cut into strips & punch a hole in corner-

eyelet isn't needed, but I use an eyelet-

thin wire & fishing clip swivel makes flag move/dance with a slight breeze-

Here's partner at log cubby & ag bag flagging-

Same location, flagging sideways, left of his hat-

Spouse keeps all the rats and mice we catch and glues the googly eyes on them. They go in the cubby.

. Myself I use a 4X6 inch piece cardboard, brown on one side and white on the other. When fluttering in a breeze the white stands out against the dark forest cover background and the brown against the snow, like a flashing neon sign. [Linked Image]

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

Careful handling 'White-footed mice' and Deer mice barehanded

The HANTA VIRUS can make you sick or worst .

Know all about Hanta, not a concern. They shed the virus through the dropping and urine and in nest material. Other means of transmission too but no concern for these mice and pack rats.

Spouse worked with rodents for years, he knows what he is doing but thanks for the concern.

They all get frozen before the eyes gets glued on and they work well.

That's a funny-looking bobcat you have there!

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

I have used a 10 inch strip of black and white feather boas, intertwined, which I laughingly called a : Magpie

Seemed to work alright. Kind of the same concept as the plastic strips.

A white plastic grocery bag hung up to contrast the black spruce bush on the edge of a frozen lake will call wolves from a great distance to a nearby jackpot when it flutters in the wind..

We have used tinsel successfully too. Caught a bobcat using a pronghorn horn in a cubby, our house cats loves to rub on them so we tried it and had a catch.

I cant use any animal parts. I started using Christmas ornaments. Ones looks like red birds. The yarn angels works good. U can put your long distance call lure on the inside. Yarn sucks the lure up.[Linked Image]

One's i have a big set of wings on them. One side of the wings has silver on one side. Was going to use fake feathers. But there too pricey to buy them. Christmas ornaments goes on sell for .10 to .25 cents after the 25th.

Haha, I could imagine someone walking through seeing Christmas ornaments hanging. Think their hackles would rise if in a remote area, lol.
