Big Animal pictures

Hang them on a Quality Scale

Or on top of a certified Scale

Why is it so prevalent to quote a weight and stick to that Guess while never weighing the animal confused

..... ie 40 lb coon etc.
200 lb doe etc...

Just a beef of mine... rant simmering whistle

Everyone around here claims the coon they saw weighed "at least" 40 #, Insist on it!

Out of hundreds of coons I've caught there was 3 that topped 20, Biggest was 25#, we just don't have large coon here, avg deer is under a hundred, maybe a big one will go 125, but they're all over 200 # in even "experiencd " hunters views....

crazy

Same beef here. Guy at work a few weeks ago laughed when I said I have never caught a 30 lb coon in about 35 years of trapping. In his day he caught lots of 30+ lb coon. Yeah okay.

Or the mythical 175 lb field dressed 1.5 year old buck. Weighed quite a few and never more than 130 lb.

I've caught a few beaver that weighed well over 100lbs before I got them to the truck.

Or, how about the guy who said, "Back in the day when I remember getting $80 each for mink....."

Then there's the guy who said he caught a snapping turtle that was so big it wouldn't fit in a 50 gallon barrel.

Remember as a kid we played army and you gave up the fort so the other side got it? Of course you don't. Little kids aren't that stupid.

Did you ever notice those really big beaver are the ones caught the farthest from your truck every time?

I just bought 4 of these on amazon. One for me and three as gifts. Can weigh a 3 pound crappie, 30 pound coon or 400 pound buck.

Those tales get old. I caught a dandy crappie or a huge bobcat everybody wants to know how much it weighed. I say "I don't know, big" most of the time. For fish I use the word guess with a weight.

I think most people will be surprised when they start weighing stuff. I don't think the trapper is lying when he calls his 20 pound tom bobcat a 30 pounder, he just never weighed one and that's his guess.

We all know that stuff weights more the farther you have to carry it.

Funny how they gain a pound for every yard from the truck you are, lol.

Caught many a 30 pound coon till they hit the scale, only 1 weighed coon ever was over 30 he went 33 , same with 50 pound coyotes LOL, never had one coyote top 40 and only 3 hit that mark

I remember a few years back a well known name in the pest world ( can't remember the guy's name ) was tired of hearing of these stories of giant rats ( common brown rat - Rattus norvegicus ) that were the size of cats or small dogs and weighed supposedly 5-10-15 lbs or more. Biggest known specimens rarely went over 2lbs.

He threw down the gauntlet and offered $1000 or $10000 or something like that for proof as in a carcass over 5lbs to win the money.

No one ever collected the cash.

One winter our family house cat, a big Tom, got sick and I took it to the vet. They weighed it, etc. He weighed 12 lbs. if I remember correctly. A couple days later I caught a female bobcat, and for whatever reason I weighed it with a fish scale I had. It was 12lbs. If I had to guess it's weight it would of been alot more than that. My eye's deceived me for sure.

Here's a sneaky trick........

I worked at this large place with lots of people. One woman who worked there was HUGE. Everyone wondered how much she weighed but she would never go near a scale or tell how much she weighed.

A bunch of people set her up without her knowing it. One day a group of 5 workers were with her walking through the wharehouse. They purposely stopped on a forklift scale together to supposedly to look at something. Combined weight of all 6 people was noted. Then they came back without the huge woman and weighed without her. She was over 400lbs.

Sneaky , sneaky , sneaky.
