Not good. We had 8" of the heaviest snow I've ever seen. It wrecked havoc not just on a lot of tops & lage branches, but knocked down a lot of trees. Some of the trees that have fallen over are just stressed from the weight of the snow. Hard to say if those trees will spring back.. The high wind didn't help. This storm affected various species of trees. Many are still w/out power.

It folded a bunch over here too. There were 4 across my parents driveway and I just blew through them with the plow. If we don't get some sign there will be a lot more trees that come down.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Unless they split you should be ok. I had a 20 ft white oak I babied since I planted it as a seedling. Every couple winters the tree would hang real low. One winter found it bent over from the wet snow. When I walked up I was standing on its top. I gently shook the snow off and it started to come up. All winter it was leaning way over. Once spring came it was back up right. The tree is 24 years old and waiting for it to start putting out acorns.
I like this tree but it keeps it leaves way too long

I'm guessing I lost a couple hundred Jack Pine trees on my property by Haypoint. My Mom has been without power for about 12 hours there. Hopefully, they get it fixed soon! That will make for a heck of a brush pile to burn this spring!

It'll take a while of being bent over before it takes. I have had trees bent over from others falling on them and after I cleared away the offending tree they pretty much stayed bent over.
But not all hope is lost I have pulled them back up and tied them in place and a year later when I take the rope off they stay up. Biggest one I did was a 6" White Oak. I might have to try that because this is devastating

I have an oak tree leaning precariously towards my house. I got out my 24-ft pole saw tonight and shook a bunch of the snow off on the side that's leaning towards the house. I might do it to some of my other trees but on 130 acres I might need an army to make it worthwhile. Perhaps what surprises me the most is the stress this is putting even on hardwoods like oaks.

That will make for a heck of a brush pile to burn this spring! I will spread them around instead of making a pile. Once the needles are good and dry I want to do a burn to encourage blueberry reproduction.

I spent a few hours today rescuing/saving trees on my properties that were tipped over under snow or flexing overloaded. My giant pole saw worked great for knocking the snow off the taller leaning trees

Glad to hear you got power back before the big freeze! Took the dog out for a walk yesterday. Looks like a winter wonderland but lost a a lot branches to heavy snow and ice. Add this to the two storms we got last summer and some areas look like pick-up sticks with brush and debris all over.

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.
