De-boned and processed my second deer today. Just a rough guess, Between the two deer, I think I have around 100 pounds of meat. That's counting pork, so if I go with just venison, I'm thinking 80ish pounds. I'm happy with that. The wife and I will be eating venison well into the early summer. Maybe longer if I can find some good wabbit hunt'in. wink

Way to go. I would rather eat venison then any other meat. My wife and I harvest 3 or 4 deer a year so we can send a cooler of meat home with my son. If I had to choose one meat it would be deer.

I got about 140 lbs in the freezer now. Cooked a few steaks tonight and wife comes home and said it stinks in here.

Finster, if they were mature deer, I suspect you probably have more than that, I actually weighed the deboned meat from a deer my wife killed this year out of curiosity. The deer which was an average sized buck for our area yielded 63 pounds of meat and from what I understand the deer in PA are bigger body wise than the deer in eastern KY.

I am not so sure about deer but moose smell like beef cooking if you shoot one while its not in the rut. If shot after 16th of September (my personal cutoff date for shooting any sizable bull) a moose might smell like a 1000lb mink cooking and taste just like too.

We usually get 3-5 deer for our family each year.
Have 3 already. My son is after our 4th this weekend.
Sausage making will start next week. We should be able to make it last until September probably.

canned 14 pints, put about 70# of steaks/roasts in the freezer, got 1 doe tag left, 1 day left of blackpowder season, 4 days of doe season end of the month.
