I'm gonna set some traps here in the next couple of weeks but in the mean time I'll try to catch a few more crappie.

Just got a couple of nuisance beaver, had an otter and a coon too. Getting over rotator cuff surgery. I’ll get em later.

Good thread nice catches. Never caught a black yote here, shot one once. Have reds grays and yotes here about equally.

Cool black coyotes, never caught a black one. We can't eat our otter, we have to turn in the carcass. We are kind of old fashioned in Indiana, we eat cows instead.

Nice thread.
Good idea.
Neat pictures.

If I get a bobcat I'll post it to this.

That Bobcat you posted in your initial post is a beauty

Thank you sir!

A little female this morning. Grab and die set with Keg Creek SS. That has been a bread and butter set this season. Supposed to get an inch of rain tomorrow night and into Thursday, that's when they shine over the dirt holes

Grousewit this is a 99 old town guide so is prolly similar to yours. Picked it up at a garage sale long time ago for 200 bucks. Came with seats trolling motor bracket stabilizer bracket paddles and some life jackets. Have hauled a lot of rats and beaver in this canoe. Tried the trolling motor stuff while trapping but it’s just too much stuff to have in canoe. Although on windy days I wished I had it lol. While looking for runs I stand in it and have a long custom stick made by beaver and I use it as a push pole lol. When I need to make time I kneel and use the paddle

Canoe trapping almost done with single digit temps soon. Running the front of a canoe up on ice has never been a good feeling. Lol.

Sorry no pix. Its ben a different trapping season start.
Gas prices and all I decided to tone down. Only set 6 traps at a farm along the river.
2 coon in a week.
should have been 10.
Week 2 i expanded on that farm.
Snares. Owner asked me please don't trap his pet foxes. I caught/killed 3 last year
So OK I set on the opposite end of that farm.
About 1/2 mile away. 2 more coon and 3 yotes.
Found out someone was night hunting yotes there too.
Pulled out just before thanksgiving setting around home.
Not much going on here either until last friday.
Caught my first Otter.
A female in a snare.
Then yesterday/monday I caught her hubby. Snares were about 25 feet apart. Beaver run and top of slide.
This slide has been a favorite of mine for a couple of years.
I guess thats not too bad for only having about 11 traps out at one time.
gave a good one
just

Set a half dozen traps yesterday and will do the same today. First sets of the year and will be first year not longlining in 10-12 years. Im only on one property and may set the bordering ground also but nice variety of tracks when scouting fresh snow with cats, fisher, coyotes, reds, and greys. May even be able to catch a couple rats and a mink on my way in with a little marsh I have to go through. Property is just across the road, so very little travel time or fuel expense. We have beaver, cats, and fisher coming in this weekend. I will travel some this weekend and set beaver for a week, otherwise I won't stray but a mile or two from home. It's a nice change-up from the pound the ground and I'm looking forward to relaxed, take your time trapping. Unfortunately, I will probably be toting a snow shovel and broom for my first couple checks!

I will never understand why grey fox aren't worth more than they are. IMO, grey fox fur is the prettiest fur there is.

Must be nice to eat ice cream as fast as you want and not have to worry about brain freeze.

We're on a break until after Christmas and the weather is not fun right now, lol.
Nice catches folks!

Hoping to find nice furry bobcats after this cold snap, and the next one.
Got our coyotes put up and dried though.

I would have to agree. I'm tickled pink to catch grays. They are pretty creatures.

I do well on them, better than my coyotes, but I haven't sold one on the fur market since 2016 or so
