What do you use to hang your animals to skin them in your shed? Last year we tried wire but you can't wind it tight enough. Is there a hole in the leg that you can stick a metal hook through?

Yes, on the leg. Do it above the bend and tie it tight, it will stay. Or you can google it for other ideas……

If you use rope use a slip knot. Tie a loop at the end of the rope, tuck the rope through the loop, making a new loop, and stick the leg through there. It won't slide off.

.... nylon rope... tie a loop in each end ... feed one loop through the other around the ankle and hang... make your opening cuts and pull hide down to the hip before hanging

I use a choker chain. Should be able to get them at any pet store.

Hook.

The best skinning or hanging rig I've found is the Orange plastic baling twine used on small square bales of hay. You can take the endless loop and choke it around a tree limb or floor joist, whatever. Then form a loop on the other end and choke it around one hind leg. I skin everything I hang by one leg, let's you use leverage and fisting much better than hanging by two legs. This doesn't apply to machine skinning.

back leg, foot to hock, slice the skin on the rear edge to the bone, there is a leader in there that will hold them. you can put a rope through or I just use an "S" hook on a piece of mule strap.

All my rats go belly up on drying rack, multiple catches get leg hung by dog choke collars, single catches I usually just hang on the skinning gambrel. Don't over think it, rope, cable, wire, whatever you have - here's some options listed, with my poser coon... from cheapest to cheap.

Paracord, I can take a pic later, but it's the same principle as these others. Only thing I do different is I have 2 drops, so I can hang both legs after I get both back legs (one at a time) worked down to the honches.

I use an Xlarge Chinese finger trap on each leg. Only downside is have to be smart enough to get it off which can cause serious delays in my fur production

In all seriousness I don't even put the rope on as deep as u guys. Just around the foot so it doesn't get in t he way on the opening cuts.unless ur using some really big rope it holds just fine despite popular beliefs
