I use cat urine at sets with bait and catch cats, coyotes, and fox…amd coons and possums.
I’ve used cat gland lure and caught coyotes and coyote gland lure and caught cats.
If you find tracks or scat, you’ll catch a cat. Make the gaudiest set you could imagine and one will be there.
Helps to have a population of cats to start with.

Just make your best coyote sey and if there is a cat around you will catch it.

Wish I had more time to trap....

I'd set for both Imo. flashy for the cat and subtle for the yote.

Sometimes I wonder if maybe people trying to trap a bobcat get too cute & fancy with flagging & other oddities. It's tough to know how best to target a cat. I plan on trying a variety of sets.

Think some of us just have a ton of cats, lol. When I caught my first I thought I was something. Then as I started catching more I realized they’re about like possums, lol.

Do bobcats usually bury their scat?

I get an occasional cat on a game camera but have yet to find a track or any other sign that I can positively ID as feline.

My place is a mix of pasture and woods. I would guess cats use edges (fence lines/woodlines) similar to coyotes.

I have never caught a bobcat in a trap

Some bcats will scratch out a small depression, but miss the hole many times. Other cats don't make a hole. Rarely do any of em cover it up.

Here they’ll deposit on a bare rock in the road intersections and coyotes too.

I have seen both exposed out in the open and semi exposed cat feces. Many I see on two track roads, exposed rocks and along some open ground solitary brushes, dead plant, old dry cow patty or rock. It's impossible to determine how many marking areas are missed. The marking areas with multiple feces will get good action no doubt.

In my opinion most all predators will use their feces and urine as territorial markers and as a means of communication to others. During young rearing periods of time I believe they attempt to hide or hold their dropping deposits until well away from their den sites.

This I would assume to be a precaution to guard against other would be predators looking for an opportunity.

The only toilet I’ve ever seen from bobcats was in the Sierra Madres in Mexico. There was enough scat there that I could’ve had enough for life. Didn’t think it would make it through customs so I left it.
It was a depression that apparently every cat in the area used. I’ve never seen anything like that here. Generally just piles scattered around, never found any buried or even seen evidence of them trying to bury it. Wherever you find it, make a set. He may not take another dump there, but it means they’re traveling there.
