Will any carrier in proximity to your camera work assuming it has signal strength? Most cell cams advertise AT&T or Verizon. Will these cams, or most of them, transmit via any carrier?

No. Verizon cams use verizon towers, AT&T cams use AT&T towers.

A few make a camera that picks up whatever available carrier. At least that’s my understanding. Think Spartan has one like that, but you’d have to go with the manufacturer of the camera for service I’d imagine, which you can do with ATT or Verizon. Or you can just add each camera with ATT and Verizon as an extra line.

The camera uses one or the other. Your phone can be anything, it doesn’t have to match.

I bought a couple Tactacam Reveal Generation II cameras this year. Bought on ebay for $109. They come with an Att & Verizon sim card. You pick which one you want. Have been very happy with them so far.

1) I doubt if that's even possible.
2) Not really sure what your saying here, but camera must have a sim card for the phone company that they will connect to the tower. Most camera companies use AT&T or Verizon, you have to choose based on which has the best service where you want to put the camera. I don't think there are any camera companies that use any other services at this time, at least not for US applications.
3) The camera you buy has nothing to do with your current cell service provider. There are no extra lines. Each camera is independent. You can go buy some AT&T cams and some Verizon Cams and use any cell service you want for your phone, or not even own a cell phone for that matter.

ol' Dad, I am curious with the Tactacam Reveal, can you switch back and forth between the SIM cards, or do you have to start another account if you want to use the other service? Seems to me you'd have to choose the cell company and stick with it.

The newer Tactacam Reveal cameras come with both the ATT and Verizon cards and can be switched out depending on which service works best in the area your in.

The new bushnell cams sat AT&T but they work up here. Spy Point CA & US versions. My friends Tactacam works up here too, he bought it in the states.

Bernie, I can add my Verizon cams to my wife’s account and they act as extra lines on her mobile bill.
I can add my ATT cams as extra lines to my mobile bill.

And here’s what I was talking about…

Doing a bit more research and Moultrie says their camera will pick up the strongest signal in your area regardless of who the carrier is. That's a real plus.

I bet that go live deal is real nice.

I have no clue…I can’t or won’t afford that much for a camera, lol. I’m on their cheapest cell end.

Interesting. How much is the monthly plan for the Golive?

Cameras are the best bear attractant I've found. The plus side of a cell cam will be knowing when a bear has ripped it off the tree or rearranged where it's pointing. They can't seem to leave them alone and I can't afford to go through four or five cameras a year.
