I have a 4 year old male dog that is still intact. Last week he started to mark things in the house. He has been very good about going outside until a week ago. Anyone have any ideas why he might start now? My son has been bringing their spayed female to our house since May and never had any problems.

I bet it has something to do with that female dog coming around. Spayed or not.

The problem is, imo, he’s still “in tact” as you say.

If he's never done it before might be worth a vet check to make sure there's nothing wrong before you look at behavior changes

nothing else changed in the house , he isn't jealous at one of you ?

a friend had a beagle , she was a stay at home mom and about once twice a year would be gone on a trip for a few days

from the time she left till she was home , that dog would go pee next to her bed even if it had been out , even if it should have had no reason , cut female. just having a tantrum because mom was gone.


I had a hound that was great for me but if I left he would go to the middle of the living room carpet make eye contact with my wife who was homeschooling the kids at the table at the time and drop a duce , while making eye contact. No I didn't shoot him ,but in hind sight probably should have and spared the world a dog with an attitude problem.
