Decided to spend a long weekend camping in the canvas tent. We have been having a great time tenting with good friends and food. Also showing a young man some fun outdoor stuff!

I used to tent camp wit 3 others in a canvas tent by Reliable Tents &Tipis We would set up on National Forest land It was set up that tent camping was allowed within certain guidelines . In fact we purchased the tent and other gear with the idea of hunting the area we where interested in learning more about .I do not recall the name of the tent but it was octagon in shape It was not bad to set up for 2 people but of course it went even faster with 3 or more people One time 3 of us left at dark and arrived 4 hours later We had the tent set up along with our cots sleeping pads and tent heater within just over an hour of arriving at our destination . One person could set it up themselves but you would want to practice a few times before actually doing it . With the cots and sleeping pads it was comfortable sleeping We also had a thermostat control ventless propane heater to keep it warm We would turn it of when we where leaving the tent and turn if back on when we got back .We often had low temps in the teens to low 20's And it always kept the tent at what ever temp we wanted it to be . We would spread a bale of wheat straw under the floor of the tent to help the moisture down .If we where sleeping 4 in the tent we had room for a table in the center of the tent Also with 4 we had a small stove that we would heat up water for coffee and make canned items in a small kettle .It was a great set up and it allowed us the archery hunt in the mountains that we camped in No motels or travel time where needed We killed quite a few deer there with bows even as we had just begun to learn the area .Job changes and health changes put an end to the trip but it sure was a lot of while it lasted .

Looks like fun! That young man will have memories of this that will last his life time.

I spent a lot of nights in a Baker lean to tent as well as a canvas diamond tent as a kid when my uncle was in a primitive club. Good times and good memories
