25 years ago my wife raised basset hounds. She wants to get back into it? Does anyone on here raise Bassett hounds? What is the current price they are going for? At the time she raised them tri colored were the most desirable. Is that still the case?

Our bassett is now 6 months old has been running rabbits with our 2 beagles for 3 months. She was not bred for hunting but she sure likes to.
Get the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US.

Nope lemon are the ones people want ! Blue was the craze until they figured out to get them they were inbreeding them . Price varies to region and blood line . Here where I’m at one with paper and all shots at 8 weeks run 750-1000 bucks Google it and sit down! Some are as high as 7500 What sucks big time is you're lucky sometimes to just GIVE AWAY a decent Beagle pup from strong hunting stock!

Our bassett is now 6 months old has been running rabbits with our 2 beagles for 3 months. She was not bred for hunting but she sure likes to. our basset loved to trail rabbits. In some respects they are better than beagles for rabbits. At least our basset was. She was much slower, the rabbits really don't run, they will hop a distance, then stop, sit for awhile then hop ahead again. Makes it easier to shoot. It was great fun watching her trail rabbits with her nose to the ground. Of course with those long ears she would occasionally step on one of her ears and trip herself.

I've never owned one, but would love to dearly. Had a mutt that looked like a black lab with Bassett "undercarriage", was truly MY dog, and I miss him so! They just seem to have my disposition, and a rabbit hunt would be cool with a dog!
