I bought some new traps I will be using for otter this year. Obviously they are not rusted or dyed. Will otter shy away from a factory trap? Or could they care less like a muskrat?

I didn't have any trouble last year.

Did you power wash or take the factory grease off?

Other than setting pan tension, the traps are good to go no matter what you do with them for otter

Depends on the pressure the otter are experiencing.

Thank you all for the advice. I don’t think they get too much pressure as I never see anyone else trapping in my area

Use them for a year, then black and wax like all other traps.
