are you asking about a 308 marlin express chambered lever gun or a gun chambered in 308win

if you are asking about 308 marlin express , go ammo shopping first and see what you can find.

then go look at the long ranger Henry and think I could feed that with readily available 308win at 25 a box for some decent hunting ammo

with Ruger now owning Marlin I don't see 308ME getting any more popular with no guns made for it.

if you found one for a smoking deal , and you reload and can find a life time supply of brass , carry on

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I'd love to have a 308 MX. I haven't seen any ammo in this caliber in some time, although I have a box of it on my shelf for "trade" material.

If you look around you can find Savage 99 rifles chambered in 308 Win.

The 308 Marlin Express is an effective lever action rifle and caliber. Marlin/Remington quit making them when Remington took over Marlin back in 2008. I don't believe a lot of these were produced, even fewer of the 338 Marlin Express.
These guns and ammo are quite scarce nowadays. Anybody's guess if Marlin (Ruger) will bring these back as they re-start Marlin production sgain.
If you want a 308 lever action. I suggest a BLR, or a used Savage 99.

I second the BLR, especially the detachable mag for unloading.

Was it a BLR you had trouble with Savell?

I only ever saw and shot one, neighbor bought one back in the '70's in 308 that worked fine. I was thinking of buying one, but......
