In my experience, dogs "like" the smell of huns better than any other bird. Where I usually upland bird hunt, there are usually chukars, huns, California quail, and pheasants, and the dogs will go after the huns every single time. You'll enjoy them.

Most the plots I have seen is around me is not what I would hunt them in. They seem to like stubble fields next to grass with some low brush. Low as in knee to waist high. I feel they like rolling hills more than flat ground so when they fly thy have a hill to go over. If you jump some, and they stay in a bunch they like to go over a hill before they land. If you watch close you can often see the last of them start to bank a little before they are out of sight. Are you coming up alone? What area are you thinking about hunting?

Plumb thickets here to keep the raptors off of them. Like quail hunting pick a bird shoot if you wait for a better shot the group might be gone by the time you shoot.

Possibly the Center, ND area. I know someone around there. Otherwise just the PLOTS/walkin land they have in the SW part of the state.

I haven't ran into any huns yet this year but when I do it's usually on the edges of wheat stubble..

Would anyone in the ND area be willing to lend me some freezer space if I do bag a couple birds that I want to get mounted? -Luke Coniguy I've got freezer space if you need it, I'm in Bismarck.
