Don't plug one in and the other one gets priority.

I would worry that it would work fine for so long that I'd quit checking them and then come the worst of summer the breaker would throw open and I'd have a big mess.
We have a diverse set of minds and experience here tho, maybe an electrician will chime in.

It's not how many freezers, it's how many amps they draw. If the circuit is rated for 30 amps, look at the info plate on the frame for what the unit draws. That will tell how many you can run per circuit. I'd allow a lttle slack in case 2 or 3 happen to kick in at the same time, like after the power kicks back on after an outage. Smart move would be to have an alarm for each circuit, at least a neon night light to show that recepticle is hot.

Most freezers have 3 to 5 amp compressors; last time I looked. However, at start up they can use up to 3 times that. If both freezers come on line at the same time and they have 5 amp compressors with cheap motors you could blow a 20 amp breaker. Probably not though.

If your only concerned with momentary, peak amp draw on startup of multiple freezers on the same circuit; replace the current breaker with a 'slow trip' breaker of the same amp rating. Ensure your circuit wiring is of the proper size (ga.) for the amp rating of the breaker as there will be some added heating of the circuit on startups before the breaker trips due to an overload.

Thanks I'll look into this. I guess I was hoping for some magical way to shut one off when one kicks on.

I had a freezer and a fridge/freezer on a GFCI in my garage. GFCI tripped when we happened to be on vacation and we lost everything in the freezers (ended up with lots of coyote bait though). Talked to an electrician and found out that this circuit did not need, and should not be GFCI, so changed it out. No problems since. As someone else stated the amp rating for the circuit is important.

2 is fine. 3 is also fine. They typically draw a few amps. and once they are cold, they cycle, so not on all the time.
Never us a GFI on a fridge or freezer. Nuisance tripping happens.

Never us a GFI on a fridge or freezer. Nuisance tripping happens. It's the amps they draw on startup not the amps they draw when running. Two or three compressors starting at the same time on a 15or 20 amp circuit spells disaster and is a disaster waiting to happen.
The bitterness of poor quality last a lot longer than the sweetness of low price

I have 2 running on the same , but not all the time.
One is a extra fur freezer, and only do it in the winter.
I'll check them because I'm in and out of them because of trapping or hunting.
Let me sugar coat this

How close are the freezers to the breaker panel? If there's room and not alot of insulation in the way you could run a second circuit for the second freezer. If there's room in the breaker panel for another breaker. You run conduit outside the wall if being unsightly don't bother you.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

I've had up to 5 at a time. I don't suppose I ever plugged them all in at the same time so some were cold before I plugged in the others. Get yourself some freezer alarms. They will tell you if the freezer dies, even if the outlet still works. Cheap insurance to keep you from finding a huge rotting mess after it gets bad enough to smell. Freezer AlarmsI don’t have a freezer alarm but I just have an indoor out door thermometer, I put the base in the kitchen and then it came with 2 thermometers I put one in each freezer in the garage, I look at the temps every morning while I’m getting around for the day
