When you get down to depth I fill pipe with water and use a old pump jack and try draw the water up. If not I would go down in 3 ft sections and try again. Till I get good water with every pump.

If you only have to go down 10 or so feet, I would dig a hole with the backhoe and drop in a 20" wide pvc/abs culvert or whatever plastic material they use these days (don't use galvanized as it reacts with certain water and gives off weird smells). I have a deep well that we use for the cottage, and the backhoe dug well for watering the yard with 2 submersible pumps. I run those 2 pumps for 12 hours each at least once a week. I just wish I wouldn't have went with the galvanized casing. Just a thought.

I've had to pull a few sand points over the years because they would oxidize and plug up, I started using stainless steel, more expensive but never have had one plug up. I think we always used 1 1/4 inch or 1 1/2 inch.

The picture is from before we started the white foam is Bee spray. We dug down to about five feet below the surface of the ground level and hit plenty of water. Then dug a ditch 15 feet long below the spring and put a plastic barrier in to stop water from leaking down hill. Then put in a 30" plastic culvert vertical for a spring box plumbed it in and left everything uncovered to make sure the water will flow out of spring box to the water tank. Did not use the sand Point well we may end up not needing it in the spring. I will put it in the yard with a Pitcher pump on top for a back up water source.
