Well, I got my license on the 11th, and on the 29th, something bad happened. I and a friend went scouting for muskrat spots and we were driving around when all of a sudden the engine was going high RPMs when it shouldn't have been and not shifting, we see this and start heading back to the house, as we're turning onto a road to get onto the main road to get to the house, the engine overheats and power steering, brakes, and everything that relied on the engine went kaput. We stop, and pop the hood, it's overheated, so we wait and start it back up, it's only going 35 and sounds terrible, we crest a hill and it drops to 25, we see my friend's dad passing by, and flag him down, so he can tow us to my house. We got towed to the house and we figured out the engine is doing the same thing as our other S10 after a deer decided it didn't want to wait its turn. So long story short, the truck lasted 18 days and it's not sitting on the hill with a blown engine. This was just a story I thought you guys would enjoy hearing how my driving adventures have been going so far. It was a very sad day as I loved that truck and it was my second most prized possession after all of my traps.

That is a bummer, for sure! But I'm betting you'll get something worked out so you've got some wheels for trapping season.

Sounds like a good time to learn automotive repair.

What year was the S10? What engine?

you didn't lose a wheel , roll it and end up in ditch upside down in 3 feet of water

just call me Mr Sunshine , it can always be worse !

You sure it's not a transmission problem?

Reading it I thought a belt broke, which would cause the engine to overheat and everything else to quit working as well.

One thing you got to know as a young man is how to work on your vehicles. When you get older and make some $ you can buy something better and pay someone to do the work if it needs it. Ask a friend or make one who is a gear head. Also sometimes schools have auto shops where they work on it for free. When I was young I had no vehicle. I threw my traps in a basket and hiked for many miles setting out my line. I always harvested some game for dinner a long the way. You can become one with nature this way. It's better than riding in a truck.

I was thinking broken water pump belt also , overheating didn't make sense otherwise

also is it a blown engine like a rod though the oil pan or blown head-gasket

head gaskets were fairly common on some of the gm v6 especially if you got them over heated

Nope, was just procrastinating about going to bed, so ended up not going to bed until 4 am.

Already got something in progress that I'm not too sure about. It does really suck but at least I didn't tip it on its lid.

2001 with the 4.3 V6 in it, we haven't taken much of a look at it but will probably take a look at it tonight when I get it parked.

That's the way I look at it, someone asked me yesterday in school how I was still so happy even with having a truck with a blown engine and I said the same thing, "at least I didn't roll it onto its lid".
