It's a bailey. If all the cables are there and its in good shape- $200-$300

Mine doesn't have cables either . Some small chains for the trigger.

If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

My understanding is that they work as intended, most of the time. They hold a beaver live so they can be transplanted. Nowadays, in our neck of the woods, there is no reason to live trap beaver. Hang onto it for a conversation piece. New ones go for $450+

In around 1956 or 1957 , Several years before Ohio had a beaver season , the State was trying to remove some problem beavers on one of the farms I trapped on . They removed the dam with a backhoe and then set a Baily trap . Well by the next morning the dam was back and the trap was under it . The State boys never dug it out , and never did get any beaver off that farm. They just gave up and left . A year or so later a buddy and I dug the trap out It was still set when we got it out . We never did try to use it .My guess is it is still under the ruins of the tool shed on his old home place . The trap had an all brass frame . That part is I am sure still there . This thread brought back a lot of old memories for me . .

Looks like an old HANCOCK trap. they are big and bulky but I still use mine in the right situation. I have switched over to using comstocks for beaver but will break out the hancock when I need to. They can be tricky/dangerous to set if you don't know how to do it so be careful. Dave Z
