Providence Farm trapper P Joined: Feb 2020 Posts: 8,994 Indiana	Choke up on your gun. 223 gets me a lot of spinners and flipping especially with a 16" barrel and at longer ranges. With our 7mm08, 260 rem bang flop. Forehead shot or shot through the hips they drop. Holes are larger though. Sample size of around 50 one year.

DWC trapper D Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 2,463 SE SD	When the pelt is worth approximately nothing, watching them spin biting at the shot for 5 seconds isnt gonna mess up anything with blood flinging around. Otherwise use a 9mm to vaporize the lungs.

Don't try a head shot... unless your a precise and accurate shooter. Coyote don't usually stand still for long. A shoulder shot causes massive destruction imo. Facing you... Center of the chest. Broadside... Center of the chest.

Not because they are indestructible, but because they want no part of being dead. They can smell when you have 2 1/2 pounds of tension on a 3 pound trigger, and can hear when you change your mind.
