Ok gang, I need to rotate a new veggie for next year in the spot I had the taters in, I know that taters really suck the nutrition out of the soil ,,, what’s good to plant there next year? Sweet corn??

Corn will also demand nitrogen. Beans put some back though.

Legumes will put N in the soil if you are trying a more sustainable approach. Every year now I put on 2-3 inches of composted manure in the fall and work it in. I have not bought fertilizer for the gardens for 3-4 years now.

X2 on turnips.......or tillage radish. Mine going in tomorrow. But if you go that route, hope you don't mind deer. To a deer, turnips must be more addictive than crystal meth.

Right now...happenning right up here on the Canadian border, I have planted radish, second crop, in a bare couple spots, 20 days ago, and now again where the garlic was in a row next to the spuds, and will again in a few weeks, where the new potatoes have been getting dug and will continue for the next month like this. They take 20 days or so and radishes will come.
