Didn't we see this same type of postings, etc when Obama took office the first time. I vaguely recall really similar posts and "information" about some other govt ABC arm that had a bunch of money earmarked for ammo and training and whatnot that got us all stirred up and turned out not a thing happened. Hopefully this is one of those times. 87k IRS "agents" sure seems excessive considering the sheer number. Gotta be something left out of the story
Just livin' the dream...and paying full price for it!

87,000 border agents is needed but illegal aliens have more pull than Americans in the new Democratic Nazi Party.
Give an illegal alien a fish and he eats for a day. Deport him and you never have to feed him ever again!

Having done taxes for 30 plus years you don't want to get on the wrong side of the IRS. How much fraud and tax negligance will they find? Every year we took new tax training we had state and federal auditors on the program so we could help people prevent errors and also advise why it is not wise to hide monies and some discussion on how they could track monies. Probably not going to be easy to find that many new agents with UE as low as it is. There are several IT firms indicating they will be down sizing those workers would quite easily be trained quickly to review forms and do audits.
Bryce Bryce, Question concerning the whole $600 in " sales" via ebay, PayPal, etc triggering a 1099. My understanding is only profit is taxable. But say I bought something 10 years ago for $8000 and sell now for $5000. I'd enter 0 for taxable. But what if I don't have a receipt? If audited, $5000 could look like all profit if I can't PROVE I bought it in the first place. And don't even get me started one buying things with my AFTER tax money, then paying sales tax. And to be taxed yet again when selling it.. I KNOW the INTENT is to get after folks selling lots of stuff, but looks like it could be a sticking point with an overzealous IRS agent.

The job description says "Must be willing to use deadly force"
You know whats coming right. These wont be IRS agents at all. I dont think they will even be American's. I am guessing they wont be able to find enough Americans to do what they are asking so they will bring in UN Troops or hire a bunch of the illegal cartel that have crossed into the US.
This will be the the globalist new army to put the smack down on American citizens, Chinese style. Do you have a copy of the job description or a link?

They said no one making under 400,000 a year will be audited, less than 5% of families in the US make over 400,000 so why they need 87K agents to audit them? stock up guys, I ask my financial agent what I should invest in, he said "ammo and canned goods" They also said this demographic won't be taxed one more penny, I'm guessing they'll hold to that!

1740 per state. Where are they going to put them all to work? They going to be riding around collecting taxes like the Sheriff of Nottingham?

Sorry for being trite but IT DEPENDS! There are items that get bought and sold that are not taxable or subject to the $600 1099. If the item you sold for $5K was and is tangible property you could list it on 4797 with date of purchase, cost, any cost or depreciation incurred or claimed then your selling price and you may have a gain or even a loss. If you don't have any receipts then you don't have proof of purchase price. Maybe the one you bought if from has kept a record. Selling of tangible property, real estate, stocks, bonds etc. are not subject to 1099 reporting. Interest is either as 1099 Int. if personal interest to you or 1098 from financial firms. If the item you bought is not business property and you sold it for what you stated and you have no record of the purchase cost you may have some tax liability on the 5K but it is not a 1099 issue. Keeping records, even if very unlikely is a very good thing. 1099s are easy to track and they are mostly used for personal interest you earn from a non financial firm, rents, royalties and services provided.
