Does anyone use them and if so what are your favorites and why.
Guess I should add I use a beard balm my wife makes. It keeps my beard more controllable, and much softer. It also smells nice.
I let my mustache grow out this time as well and a wax keeps it out of my mouth and out of your food as much. Working on a Handel bar to go with this wooly beard. Never let the stash get thus long before .. I did have 3 years of growth on my beard once . I'm at about 7 month of growth on it now.
If you haven't tried balms or waxes before if you give then a try for a few weeks you may find you like them.

I haven't shaved in 24 years , my beard is down to the 3rd button on my shirt and I can say no I have never used any of that stuff.
when you wash your hair wash your beard , get out of shower ,comb , done
why do people keep trying to complicate this.

I edited my post above. I went without them when I had my 3 years worth of growth but tride them a few months before I shaved. I wasn't sure at first but after few weeks I decided I did like them.

I sometimes use a pine scented oil on my goatee & mustasche. Gives it a nice shine and smells good too. Reminds me of the Black Hills of SD and mountains of MT.

Sometimes some fat or grease from a piece of chicken gets absorbed into my beard/mustache. It makes it smooth and shiny! LOL! And the smell makes you hungry. Great method two for one and no extra cash outlay. Pure genius.

I used to sit in the river up to my nose and minnows would dig around and get into my beard! LOL

I worked with a guy who had a new beard and was pretty excited about it. He would invite me into his office once in a while to show me his newest beard treatment and tell me how soft his beard was now.
I had avoid him because it felt uncomfortable having a beard buddy.

I’ve used a couple, but only to get past the “itchy” stage when I had to shave for one reason or another. I may have to start using some balm again when we go out, it’s starting to get pretty wild. But I told my wife if I ever left the oilfield I’d never shave again, and I haven’t, though I did trim it up for a job interview about 7 months ago. Then I kicked myself when I walked into the room and all 7 interviewers had mid-chest length beards lol.

I grow my beard out for six months, shave it off for summer, and then start again in bow season. I work in a professional setting in which grooming standards are a thing. As such, my curly beard has to be maintained. I use Billy's BA balm and a beard wash. The beard wash is a less harsh soap than shampoo which causes my bread to break off. The balm allows me to keep it neat and clean looking while at work. Also makes it softer to the touch which my fiancé appreciates.
She prefers the vanilla scent over others as its the most mild.
