i want to put a better chain set up on my no 1 longs ,coil and jumps, What size and length of chain would be best? How many swivels and where? Trapping muskrat mink with coon and otter on rocky mountain creek. Drowners where i can and probally wireing off on other.

I get the same size chain that comes with the trap, then remove the ring and add a swivel. Add what ever additional chain you like followed by another swivel. I like to add a HAGz bracket to the last swivel.


Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

I believe #4 twist link machine is the smallest that can fit a j-hook.

Although a heavier section of chain will add weight and help to dispatch you catch.

I do what 20scout says. I use a heavier chain so it weighs more.
