If your going to put a cap on the back a minivan would be a better choice. Minivans have much more room to carry larger stuff.
My wife has Honda Odessey that is much better for the vast majority of uses that pickups see these days. I have owned several pickups in my life and other than a few specific cases that alot of people never have to worry about I'd get a minivan before I'd mess with a pickup. Only exception is if I want to haul some large heavy stuff. And then I'd look at a older used one instead of the newer ones that are geared more for soccer moms than the working man.
Better gas mileage, able to haul 7 adults comfortably, carry 4 x 8 sheets and 10 ft boards handles and rides better. Better in the snow than a 2wd pickup.

And they are available with awd so they are every bit as good if not better than a pickup on bad road conditions.

I drove one for years. Great truck but went to a Chevy because I got a full sized truck and had the same gas mileage But yota will run for ever

Everybody can’t be as awesome as you jbyrd. Those Subaru’s can scoot around in some pretty rough spots at 30 mpg. My wife has a Honda CR-V that I like to drive, better send in my man card too eh.
