Supposedly found in Texas. For real?

It’s just a different color phase of blacktail. That snake is to blacktails what cross fox are to red fox.

I need a couple of those for a bow...

I'm sick of seeing that viral post. It's from back in 2019 iirc, but this week its been blasted all over with it supposedly being found all over the southeast.
I'm on a couple snake ID groups and its been posted and removed a few dozen times this week.

Black tails are more common in far west Texas, but occasionally they find one in the hill country. One of the most beautiful snakes we have IMO.

It was also found in PA this past week.

When I pointed out to the lady that we didn't have diamond backs in PA, let alone the area of PA it was supposedly found she got mad and said she had taken the pics. When I called her out on her BS she tried to get me banned from the site she had posted it on. I posted the same article that Jbyrd posted and people really started hammering her. She never read the article for 2 days and kept up her story. The admin on the site finally told her she needed to read the article or she was gone was when she finally admitted it.

I really wouldn't have wanted to see her go, as she is a wealth of info on the site.

So, how can you give any of it credibility then ? I would be skeptical for ever more ... that's lame.
