When I was guiding in Quebec , I knew it was 5 a day , and a limit in the freezer of 45 .
There at that time , you could shoot up the road , down the road and off the road , but NOT across the road .
In the fall . I ate them almost every day while in season .

What he means about snaring them has me puzzled .
Just an expression of harvesting or did he in fact use those poles set as a snare somehow .
Did he use them as a club ?
I know you can take them with a rock or stone .
I remember reading about a big name hunter out west that used a sling shot to harvest them .
Read it in Outdoor life , just can't remember who it was .

Well jerk weed,,I did just that.Snaring off their roost was NOT listed as a Legal "Manner Of Take" Even shooting them had limitations on shot size and such.You should look up your own game laws,,,like I just did.Hahahaaaaa I had you figured from the get go.Big Poser.
