Soak a rag in anise oil and hang in a tree works well here. X2

Sorry, what kind of sprayer you guys use. Any one know of a durable bottle or small pump sprayer that can be used for high viscosity liquids

Sprayer sounds like a pain. Put a little skunk juice in an empty water bottle and leave it under a sheltered spot nearby. The bears will sniff it out if they're around..

We use a combination of vanilla extract and beaver weedoo to get black bears into the cages.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Years ago I would use an old tin can that still had part of the lid attached . Carry a propane torch and burn honey in it , let the smoke scent up the area trees and brush . Hang the can high in a tree , and hang zip lock bags of honey with a small hole in the corner of the bottom , and let it drip a drop as slow as I could get it , as when the sun hit it, it would drip faster . Used pastries , and got bones and meat scraps from local butcher shops , and bait heavy . Never used road kill , as that was very rare in the area as all two tracks for most of it . Always built my stands in pine or cedar trees , for a good back drop from the bait , to cover and break up a human outline . Loved those days of hunting and guiding .

Based on the problems I've had with them buggers molesting the bird feeders in my yard over the years, I do believe that the next time I draw a MN tag for bear I'm going to stick a sheppard's hook in the ground and hang a fancy-looking feeder full of sunflower seeds from it. I may even do a little landscaping around the base of it with a shrubbery or two and plant a few begonias.
I've had my share of success in baiting bear, yet nothing seems to consistently bring them in, night after night, better than the feeders in my yard. Heck, one year I had a brute of a bear coming in regularly and he was so frustrated that I'd taken the feeders down at dark that he pushed my 20' flagpole to the ground hoping that there was a feeder on top. He did it again about 2 weeks later after I'd replaced the pole. I have an overhead steel garage door on my big shed. Same as most people have on their garages. The shed where I keep drums of bear bait/oils etc. Twice the door has been ripped off the rails and torn open by bears and with all the buckets and drums of goodies in there they only took the bags of bird seed kept in there. I found the empty bags on the property. To stop this I took two sheets of plywood and a nail gun and shot a zillion nails in those sheets and staked them to the ground in front of that door. Lotta blood on that plywood but problem solved. Osky

I have nothing clever to put here.
